I do this project every May because it is the perfect time to talk about flowers, and Teacher Appreciation Week usually falls at the beginning of the Month.
This project is all about class appreciation. I think that by the end of the year students get so focused on the end and summer and transitions that they forget about how much they care about each other. It's also just a really nice project to make students feel good about themselves. It's something they can keep long after they leave your class.
Inside is a template to write about each person in your classroom as well as a place for a checklist. Now, I work in special education so my classroom is never more than 9 students usually so I created petals for them to write their sentences on and then create beautiful colorful flowers for them to keep. For those of you with bigger classrooms you might want to create your final project a little differently so it's easier for you.
The Pen is Mightier, is all about creating a joy for writing as well as teaching students conventions and format.
