◈ It’s NOVEMBER AND YOU KNOW
what that means for your 3-6th grade students. Turkey Day will soon be here, so it’s time to get those creative juices flowing with this Teaching Theme Writing Prompt and Literacy Activities for Thanksgiving.
I don’t know about you, but when I think of juices flowing, I can just smell the aroma of turkey roasting in the oven.
, I also think about the poor ole turkey and what he must be thinking so I came up with this writing prompt entitled, “If this Turkey Could Talk, What Would He Say?”
To be honest, my cousin, an artist, came up with a caricature of the bird, I put it on the bulletin board and what happened is history, the kids loved it. I know yours will too and so will you.
BY THE WAY, IF PLANNING INTERESTING GRAMMAR ACTIVITIES
is a chore, I’ve got your back again because Included is a no prep printable ELA/Language Arts package. Can you guess what the themes are, YES!
you got it, each sentence is Thanksgiving related. So what more could you ask for…..
how nice it’ll be to concentrate more on teaching and less on planning, especially during this busy time of year when you have other things to think about!

FOR ME AS A TEACHER
: Thanksgiving is a time of anticipation and excitement. It’s the beginning of the holiday season and many kids are antsy and ready for a break so I always like to come up with an activity that will be engaging and educational at the same time. Even those kids who aren’t particularly interested in school have come up with some great stories about the turkey. I hope that you enjoy this resource as much as I have.
ON THE SECOND TO LAST PAGE of this resource, YOU"LL FIND
a link for a FREE
English warm up activity that I created and used with my classes at the beginning of each ELA class. Once completed, we'd sing a song about the part/parts of speech we were learning. FINALLY
we’d work on the dreaded grammar.
may your day bring you much joy and happiness.
