If students have previously failed a high-stakes test, students may need additional support to boost their confidence in writing. Some MS and HS students might also need additional support leading up to the "BIG Test." This resource helps students prewrite ideas for several possible essays in order to meet the specific demand of various prompts. The resource is designed to be used for several weeks before formal writing assessments. Write personal notes, skills, and reminders that can help students build confidence and reinforce skills taught leading up to formal state writing assessments.

Students and teachers can check proper spelling, usage, and grammar to ensure students use their personal connections correctly when writing an essay.
Teachers may write personal skill notes, reminders, or motivational notes for students.
Figurative language that students enjoyed and found useful in writing throughout the year can be added.
Personal anecdotes can be prewritten, edited, and perfected before students take the assessment. This gives students an opportunity to draft as “practice” if they choose to use it on assessment day if it applies to a prompt.
Students will have a edited collective bank of writing ideas, skills mastered, and notes of confidence to review at home before the assessment.
