This is a series of writing prompts designed for my first grade classroom. There are 47 writing prompts in all, plus a cover page in case it is turned into a writing journal.
On each page, there is a statement about writers. These statements relate to writing, such as "Writers write about people." and "Writers collect facts." Under each statement, there is a simple direction to be used to get the students writing. Included are prompts to encourage narrative writing, opinion writing, informative writing, and lists of words.
At the bottom of each prompt, there is a "Self-check" section. This section has 1 - 3 sentences that remind the students to self-check their work for common capitalization and punctuation rules. A star next to each statement can be colored once checked.
These writing prompts have four lines for the students to write on, and are each one page. I use them as morning work options for my students throughout the year so I can watch their writing growth.
