Each prompt is on a separate slide, for easy presentation, and has plenty of detail to get students started writing.

Also included for each type or prompt is one slide of information about how to respond to that type of writing prompts for students to refer to as needed.

Each individual slide includes student directions.

The narrative prompts include both fiction and non-fiction. The fiction prompts include fantasy, mystery, and realistic. The non-fiction prompts include personal narratives and biographical narratives.

The informative or explanatory writing prompts include prompts related to these four subject areas: history, science, math, and literature. There are prompts for each of these types of essays: compare and contrast, cause and effect, sequential, problem and solution, and descriptive.

The opinion and argument writing prompts include prompts on a variety of topics of interest to middle grade students, including: school, school subjects, teens, animals, and community issues. Each prompt is presented on a separate slide. Included on each slide are directions for writing both an opinion essay and an argument essay.

The picture prompts each include two images, one large image and a smaller image that gives additional detail. Also on each slide is information about the subject of the picture and a prompt for writing a narrative, explanatory, or opinion essay.
