This packet contains 34 different writing prompts to help your students use their imagination to answer What if… questions.
Prompts: What if you could fly? What if something you painted sold for one million dollars? What if you found a baby chick in your refrigerator? What if a wasp stung you and you got super powers? What if computers were alive? What if flowers tasted like chocolate? What if you had an elephant for a pet? What if a family of monsters lived next door? What if you had to fight a dragon every day on the way to school? What if you discovered that your new teacher is a dinosaur? What if you had a robot that would do your homework? What if invisible people on the Moon declared war on Earthlings? What if aliens landed on the playground at recess? What if a scientist invented a drink that made you invisible? What if the sun refused to come out one day? What if it started to rain and it never stopped? What if there were tornados in your city every day of the year? And more…
Students write a paragraph for each prompt: “The first sentence must introduce your topic. The middle sentences must explain your thoughts, what you would do, how life would be different, what others would think, changes you would make in the lives of your family and friends. The final sentence must conclude the paragraph.”
Take a look at the Preview to view eleven sample pages and a list of all the prompts.
