Writing Prompts For “Owl” Year Long Gr 1-2
Teaching children how to write effectively is a mammoth task but also one of the most important skills that we as teachers work so diligently to accomplish.
This set of 40 writing prompt pages has been organized to include seasonal topics as well as general interest. A few of the prompts are original but most I have collected from fellow teachers over my 40 years of teaching or found online at various teaching and writing websites.
*Copyright for the writing prompts is given to an assortment of teacher resources.
Each page has been formatted to include the dotted writing prompt which is to be traced by the student and manuscript lines for completing the writing task. I have also added an illustration box for students to “draw their story” first if they wish, as this may help them to organize their thoughts before they begin writing.
The types of writing prompts found in this unit include narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive.
These writing prompt pages would also work well in the literacy center.
