Product Description
This ratio and proportion activity will have your students working hard matching answers to correct problems. These problems can be used as a game, group work, partner work, review and independent practice. Use it as review by having students find their partners by matching the problem to the correct answer. Use this during guided practice and group work by having groups of student race to match problems and answers. It can also be used as a scavenger hunt in the room, where students must find their answer before moving on to the next question. Whichever way you choose to use the activity, it allows students to self-check their work.


This activity comes with 24 problems, student answer sheet, answer key and directions. The problems include writing ratios, finding equivalent ratios (proportions) and vocabulary. Sixteen of the problems are word problems and two questions are vocabulary. I’m including two formats, one as a scavenger hunt game and one as a matching activity.


I used this activity with common core standards 6.RP.1 and 6.PR.3b. These standards address writing ratios and finding equivalent ratios, which is the same as finding a proportion. I did not teach my student the cross-multiply algorithm before this activity. All equivalent ratios problems can be solved by finding the multiplicative or additive relationship.
