Product Description
Writing Reflection Fans - Traits of Writing

This resource contains writing reflection questions for teachers or students to use during and after the writing process. Teachers can use these writing reflection questions for whole or small group work, after writing minilessons, during or after guided writing lessons, or during or after formal writing lessons and the completion of writing activities. Students can also use these reflection questions when working independently, or with a partner or small group during or after the completion of writing activities.

There are 7 different groups of questions - one group for each of the different traits of writing:
• ideas
• organization
• voice
• word choice
• sentence fluency
• conventions
• presentation

Each group of questions will make its own fan containing 15 different questions (with over 100 questions in total). You can use a particular fan when studying a particular trait of writing, or use different fans to reinforce the traits of writing throughout the year. You could also group all the questions together on a binder clip circle and hang near your desk for easy access during writing activities (which is what I do).

I have also included a page of blank frames for each trait if you want to add some of your own questions. They are not editable though, so you will have to write in your questions. I have also included a checklist sheet for each trait for students or teachers to keep track of questions asked.

The question sheets should be printed out on cardstock or on regular paper and laminated for extra durability. Cut out the individual questions and punch a small hole in the end of each question. Questions can then be put together with a brass fastener or a binder ring to keep them together.

*** This resource is also included in my HUGE 4th - 6th Grade Essentials Bundle containing 20 of my best classroom resources.
