We want our students to monitor their growth and progress. So we have to teach them to be reflective and self-evaluative.
Being reflective about writing work helps students to become self-evaluative. This writing reflection asks students to reflect on their use of the writing process as well as their published piece of writing. Also, students need to recognize others’ successes by complimenting their classmates’ writing. By using the Writing Reflection and Kind Compliments, we are teaching students to monitor their own learning and evaluate others for strengths.
Included in this product are:
A Writing Reflection page that guides students through reflecting on their own writing and how they used the writing process. This page remains private between you and each student. Completing these for every piece of published writing will add to the profile of your growing and developing writers.
Kind Compliment Talk Bubbles for readers to give kind compliments about other writers’ published pieces. These are also great for displaying next to each student’s writing on a public bulletin board for others to read and compliment your students’ writing pieces. It’s great for classmates to compliment, but it is even more powerful when displayed on a hallway bulletin board for others to read and compliment, also. What a great way to create an authentic audience for your young, growing writers.
A Celebration Sign to display giving directions for the Kind Compliments Talk Bubbles.
