Product Description
50 pages of writing reproducibles for your kindergarten or 1st grade class. Each reproducible has word bank support and an engaging picture to stimulate the young imagination.

50 pages of stationary designed to stimulate your students’ imaginations. In this set are 50 different designs of stationary. Each stationary design has a word bank to support student writing. Stationary designs are high-interest illustrations that excite students about writing.

Linking the Common Core Standards to Writing

Even at the primary and elementary grades, we know it is all about preparing our students to be college and career ready. Part of this process focuses on the fact that we need to make our students more independent and put them in charge of their own writing. Creative writing is part of that process and is included in the standards for primary and elementary students.

While there is no right or wrong way to introduce students to this stationery, you might want to begin the following way. Place the reproducible sheet on the document camera and have students take a few minutes to look at the picture. Ask students to carefully look at the picture and then comment. Next, with the students’ help, review the word bank provided and add any additional words that would enhance students’ vocabulary.

For all grade levels, invite students to share their writing with you, with a partner, a small group, or the whole class. Display the completed essays on a bulletin board, or compile them to complete a collaborative class book. One other suggestion is to compile each student’s essays and send them home as a book to share with family.

By sparking their interest in a picture, this book will help your students build fluency and confidence as writers. Students will enjoy sharing their writing with you, their classmates and family. Whether you use this book for timed or processed writing is your choice. The most important step is that students write every day. These are perfect for literacy centers.

These are some of the themes on which the pictures and word banks focus:

apple
cookie
bug
dog
ocean
dolphin
circus
dinosaur
school
zoo
truck
train
rocket ship
fish
frog
worm
monkey
octopus
bear
tooth
snowman
bees
popcorn
crayons
starfish
robot
duck
snake

Great to use at the beginning of the year as a back to school activity and then continue throughout the year. Writing excitement will make every day will seem like the first day of school!
