Writing is important, and it is not only for the English/ Language Arts classroom! However, this packet of Writing Rubrics will benefit any English/ Language Arts teacher, as well as teachers of other subjects.
This packet consists of 65 pages and is filled with every rubric you can imagine. There are rubrics for general writing assignments, paragraph writing, descriptive paragraphs, descriptive essays, expository essays, classification essays, summary and analysis essays, argument or persuasive essays, research papers, annotated bibliographies, writing journals, and multimedia projects.
My rubrics are all letter grade rubrics, so there is no need to try assigning points and calculate numerous scores for several categories. While the rubrics have letter grades, I assign plus/minus grades as follows: A+ = 100, A = 95, A- = 92, B+ = 88, B = 85, B- = 82, and so on. Sometimes, however, a student's writing may fall into more than one letter grade category. For instance, the student's paper may be an A in content and organization, but a D or F in formatting and grammar/mechanics. In such a case, I assign the plus/minus grade for each category (e.g. content, organization, formatting, and grammar/mechanics), and I average the grades. I find this to be much easier and faster than using rubrics that require assigning point values for each category and adding them together. Anything grading process that saves time and is easy for students to understand is worth trying!

Please note that these smaller rubric packets are included in this comprehensive packet. I chose to break my rubrics up into smaller packets for those who only want rubrics for a specific assignment. So, you can buy the rubrics for each type of assignment separately in my store, or you can save money by purchasing this comprehensive packet and have a rubric handy for any assignment!
