Why use writing rubrics? Writing rubrics make assessing the students' work efficient, consistent, objective, and quick.
Utilize our Common Core aligned rubrics to know implicitly what makes that assignment excellent, mediocre, or in need of improvement. Our rubrics will help you to focus your attention to the key concepts and standards that the students must obtain. By developing a working guide (rubric) for students to use as a tool throughout the assignment, you will provide the scaffolding necessary to improve the quality of your students' work and to increase the knowledge that the students acquire. Our rubrics allow you to accommodate and differentiate for heterogeneous classes by offering a range of quality levels (they can be used with gifted and learning support students).
When utilized during individual writing conferences or group work, our Common Core aligned writing rubrics can also provide your students with a clear understanding of what is expected of them. It provides them concrete directions about what makes a good opinion, informative or narrative writing piece.
Many studies have proven that rubrics improve students' end products and increase the students' overall learning. Use our rubrics to encourage meta-cognitive processes (how students to think about their own thinking) and allow your students the opportunity to analyze their own work. When your students match up with the standard explained in the rubric and their work you are give your students experiences with higher-level thinking processes.
• Common Core aligned writing rubrics for opinion, informative and narrative writing.
• The rubrics can be customized as we have left blank slots for teachers to fill in the number of details or words they expect from students.
