Do you struggle with students coming to you with unfinished work? Have them use this writing checklist. With this Self-Check Anchor Chart your students can make sure that they are following the expectations that you have set out for each writing activity! Go over each step and have students underline and circle each part of their narrative writing piece. I also use magnets and have students move their names as they go through each step. You could also use post-its.
Step 1 - I can write a beginning to my story.
Step 2 - I can write a middle to my story.
Step 3 - I can write an ending to my story.
Step 4 - I can write a problem and a solution to my story.
Step 5 - I can write transition words in my story. ( I remake this and put this step on at the end of the year)
