Learning to write sentences can be fun and simple. This lesson teaches students to look for three important factors when writing sentences. 1. Capitalize the first word in the sentence and add appropriate punctuation to the end. 2. Capitalize all proper nouns in the sentence. 3. Every sentence must have a subject and a verb.
The student learns what is involved in each requirement and receives a list of activities to practice writing properly formed sentences.
The lesson can be taught by the instructor, or simply read and carried out by the student with little instruction. It is simple and straight forward with little to no preparation.
It includes a mini lesson on the three criteria, a short worksheet to find mistakes within the sentence, a checklist for correcting sentences and an example of one of the suggested activities.
