Writing Sentences: Read, Circle and Write Sentences FALL KIDS THEMED
Differentiated Writing * Beginning Sentence Construction * Special Education Writing * Listening or Reading comprehension.
This Fall Kids Themed writing activity is a perfect way to have beginning writers copy and compose sentences. Perfect for low readers - picture support. Uses Dolch sightwords embedded within the sentences!
Read the short story to the class. The students will then circle the picture/words that show understanding of the concepts in the story. Next, the student will copy the sentence onto handwriting paper. Several fall themed printable handwriting paper files are included. Also has differentiated writing support ideas. For example, there is a file with just rectangular boxes where the teacher writes the sentence and then the student copies directly underneath.
This file included fall themes such as squirrels, acorns, fall leaves, Thanksgiving, pumpkins, fairs, school carnivals. It has one or two pages of mild Halloween sentences (jack-o-lanterns, etc). However, most stories/sentences are non-halloween - ex. - the students dress up as a story book character (no mention of Halloween). This file does mention Thanksgiving in several sentences, so keep in mind that this might be targeted more to the United States holidays. I tried to make the paragraphs describe the content in the most simplistic way, as I work with many students with autism and special needs who sometimes do not get too complex of a story for listening comprehension. Students will learn about fall as they listed to the short story. I have found these sentences to be a wonderful resource when working with my students with autism and special needs. However, I also have used these files with beginning sentence writers/kindergarteners.
30 stories/sentences, plus several pages of handwriting paper/adapted handwriting paper.
If you need simpler sentences, or curriculum that is differentiated down to an even more simple level, I have other files on Teachers Pay Teachers. Check out the Outline Trace and Write Files, or the Cut and Write files!
