This Leveled Writing Lab is the solution to the problem of trying to teach writing skills to middle school students that are performing on all different skill levels! The fully differentiated Leveled Writing Lab provides individual lessons to help classrooms of students develop sentence, paragraph, and essay writing skills at the same time!

The Leveled Writing Lab is the best differentiation and intervention solution for middle school writing skills improvement!

This is how it works:

1.  Students take a diagnostic.

2. Based on the results of the diagnostic, students are placed at a color level in the Lab. Each level has 7 different lessons covering the skills that the student needs.

3.  Students complete lessons on paper and then enter answers into a Google Form

OR coming soon - an Easel Assessment. (Level 1 Aqua Lessons have Easel Assessments as an option so far)

4.  The Google Form or Easel Assessment provides feedback that the students track.

5.  Once a student completes 3 lessons at 80% or better and the teacher has verified the results, the student moves up a level.

Once students have completed all the levels, they are ready to tackle grade-level writing skills such as essay writing with increased skill and confidence!

There are 9 levels of individual lessons and there are 7 lessons on each level.  Plus, there is an extra Enrichment level for students who master all the levels in the Lab:

Level 1: Aqua – capitalization, constructing sentences, nouns, verbs, subjects, predicates.

Level 2: Yellow – simple, compound and complex sentences, conjunctions, fragments, run-ons

Level 3: Orange – apostrophes, appositives, subject-verb agreement, adjectives and adverbs

Level 4: Green – topic sentences, supporting details, combining sentences

Level 5: Blue – kinds of paragraphs, summary sentences

Level 6: Purple – citing evidence, support (elaboration)

Level 7: Red – introduction paragraphs, thesis, body paragraphs, relevant evidence

Level 8: Silver – counterclaim paragraphs, rebuttal, conclusion paragraphs

Level 9: Gold – essay structure (organization), combining paragraphs.

Level 10: Platinum - 8 Enrichment projects where students create something new.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Janice B. said, "I LOVE that it starts really low! I have some really low academic achievers in my room, especially in my inclusion class. I struggle to find things that start low enough for them without changing the curriculum! It meets the needs of all my learners from the lowest to the highest!"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Katie E. said, "I really enjoyed the diagnostic test that put them into the correct practice levels. They honestly enjoyed the independence and the ability to be working on what they needed to. I think it took some pressure off to be doing different things around the room."
