In this power point lesson, students are guided through the process of how to formulate a strong argument or "claim." Students are shown how to take a topic or picture add a strong verb and then add a strong well thought portrayal of evidence from which expanded essays can be developed.
THis lesson lends itself to all of your differentiated learners, as it builds in independent, and group work. From the activities students are also given an opportunity to reflect on their metacognition, and how they came to the conclusion/claim that they did.
This lesson is the first of a series that I will be composing. It is based upon the CCSS for Middle School ELA/Writing standards.
