This is a video lecture about writing topic sentences in an essay. It is a video file that is about 1:30. I use this for flipping my classroom and catching up students on content that they have missed.
In this video I explain how a topic sentence is, essentially, a one-point thesis statement. The example I use is drawn from Animal Farm and worldview. The specific prompt addressed is, "What is the worldview of Animal Farm?"

I have had great success in my classroom with these videos! In one instance (not for a flipped room but an absentee student) I asked the student to take out his phone and complete the respective worksheet while watching the video. He finished and demonstrated understanding of the concept without any further explanation.
The file is the right size for computers and for iPods, so if you download it feel free to give it out to your students to put on their devices.
The handout I annotate in this video is available in my store and is a perfect companion for this segment. It can be found here...
