If your middle school students are anything like mine, then they probably try to start essays from scratch without a strong thought process and plan. Their final products generally leave much to be desired. So, I took that knowledge to develop a plan for my students.
The document available for purchase will provide guidance on how to structure an outline prior to writing a Literary Analysis Task on the PARCC. For the resources, students will explore“The Monsters are due on Maple Street” &
“Dark they were, and golden-eyed." Steps will be followed in order to formulate an appropriate,well- constructed Literary Analysis Task with textual evidence.
For each of the three writing tasks required on the PARCC, I developed a similar type of writing tutorial. With continual exposure, my students knew what was expected for an outline and task.
