I have used this chart for the past 7 years, because I noticed that many students knew WHAT they wanted to say; they just didn't know HOW to say it! My students use this for Short Responses and Essay Writing for various state and district assessments.
This Writing Verb List is unlike most charts with long lists of verbs, because it helps the student associate the word with definitions and similar meanings through synonym grouping.
It comes with a TEACHER EXAMPLE of a short response to a question based on "The Prologue" from Romeo and Juliet, so you can see how you might use it in your own class. Additional questions are available as well on the last page.
