Editable writing workshop template, editable lesson outlines and PDF copy of plans for Unit 1 Bends 1-3 based on the Lessons for Masters: Improving Narrative Writing book by Amanda Hartman and Julia Mooney (Lucy Calkins, series editor), and extra grammar lessons for writing workshop created by Miss Little Sparks in the same format as the writing workshop plans. Units 2 is also up on my page.
The actual resource from LC is amazing and should be read before using these lesson plans so you can edit them for your team/class/school. These plans do not replace the resource and you will miss all of the professional development if you rely on these lesson plans. Most of it will not make sense unless you read the session first from the LC resource. Check to make sure your resource matches Grade 2, Unit 1, Lessons for Masters: Improving Narrative Writing by Amanda Hartman and Julia Mooney (Lucy Calkins, series editor) 2013
I love teaching writing and have spent many years trying to help other teachers love it too with my lesson plans. LC’s resource says all the things I’d want other teachers to know. These plans just save you some time when it comes to having to turn in plans. They get you started so you can include your own changes to reflect the data in your classroom and to write your own minilessons! The most important page in here is the editable template that you can fill in after you read each session and when you want to make your OWN teaching points. Helpful hint: Don't forget these sessions can take 1-3 days to teach/practice depending on the needs of you class so do not feel like you have to teach a new session every day!
If Writing Workshop is new to your school or you want to set up routines for the year I highly suggest doing a 15-20 day launch: Materials are provided in this package: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Workshop-Lucy-Calkins-First-Grade-Unit-1-Lesson-Plans-SMALL-MOMENTS-1980565
This helps set the stage and routines for the year. The launching materials work for ANY grade level and many of the first grade lessons from SMALL Moments make great launching lessons since a lot of the second grade sessions refer back to first grade. You can mix and match to create a strong launch to Writing Workshop with the package above. I ALWAYS do a 15-20 day launch even if my students did writing workshop last year. The first grade sessions also make GREAT individual and small group lessons during independent writing.
