Want to implement writing workshop but don't know where to start? This bundle of helpful minilessons is what you need to get going! Essentially, writing workshop is an instructional model in which the teacher facilitates a minilesson and then releases students to write. It's effective because students can apply the skills they just learned, and then the teacher can confer with students during the individual writing time. Minilesson with mentor texts + writing workshop time has transformed my teaching, and I'm slowly growing a collection of strong resources to guide students. This my growing collection; when you purchase it now, you will get a lifetime of additions and updates!
This growing bundle contains ALL of my writing minilessons and activities--a total of 93 slides of materials! These resources will work for ANY essay. When we are in writing workshop mode, I made sure these resources are accessible to students (by uploading them to a shared folder or hyperdoc on Google Classroom). This way, students can work through the writing process at their own pace, using these resources to guide them. My students have said the following about this collection of resources:
-"All the PowerPoints really helped me because I had things to reference back to in my essay."
-"I think the most helpful thing for me was the minilessons and posting them to Google Classroom after going through them. I think this showed me how to do a lot and gave me something to look back on which I used for my whole essay. This makes writing the essay 10x easier."
-"I liked how you gave examples on how we are supposed to do it. You showed us what was right and what was wrong."
-"The most helpful mini lesson for me was definitely the one on conclusions because I have never been good at writing a conclusion to my essay."
