Keep your writing workshop conferring binder SIMPLE! It's easy to keep track of when you will meet with your writers and what you have discussed during each conference.
This document includes:
- blank writing workshop conferring schedule to place in the front of your binder
- strategy group schedule to use as needed
- 12 pages of themed recording sheets (one for each month)
- a blank (not themed) recording sheet
Make a schedule of when you will meet with each student. Then take the recording sheet for September and label with each students name. Separate your binder into 5 sections, one for each day of the week. Place 4-5 recording sheets behind each day of the week. These are the students you will meet with each day. You only need one recording sheet for each student per month. There are 4 large spaces that will help you to keep record notes and track of progress. This system allows you to easily refer back to your last conference notes. At the end of the month, copy the new themed recording sheet and place in your binder. Don't forget to pull student's writing once or twice a week and organize strategy groups.
It's that simple. I have tried many ways to organize my writing workshop notes and this has been the most efficient and effective. It keeps me organized all year and I'm always prepared for parent teacher conferences and report cards!
