The Autobiography Project is a project designed to let students explore their history, family, and, most importantly, themselves. While there are some writing pieces that are mandatory in conjunction with the study of The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, students will find several opportunities for choice, in which they can choose the things they want to research, discover, and share.
This is a GREAT creative writing project but could also be used in connection to a heritage project. This project really runs itself as students are independently working and thoroughly engaged in learning about themselves and expressing their findings through writing and artistic representations. This was DEFINITELY a favorite with my students in a 7th grade IB MYP classroom!
