Whether your students loved or hated their book, they WILL be able to write a book review about it with this planning page/frame and SAMPLE book review which they will analyze then refer to for writing their very own.
Students will read ANY book of your/their choice, fill in an introductory frame that includes the title/author, a short summary, and a thesis/main idea statement about a literary element (character/setting/plot/theme/author's craft) of your/their choosing! The body of the review will prove their thesis/main idea, of course, with examples, quotes and explanations-all framed out for them. The conclusion will wrap it up with a rating and recommendation. Thus, creating a 3 paragraph essay! Let's not forget they will analyze a sample book review by "marking it up."
