This PowerPoint corresponds with the "Writing a Catchy Intro" handout. It intentionally leaves out the use of questions as a method for writing an intro, for this is one that students gravitate to, and it's the one that I try to steer them away from. The others are all accounted for, with instructions at each phase of the intro, including samples and topics for students to practice and come up with their own.
On its own, this PPT is a solid full day's lesson - possibly two days, depending on how far you take their samples. If you go through a modeling process with the ones they come up with, this lesson is easily two full class periods or a solid 90 minute class period.
