This 11-slide power point presentation guides students through how to organize a five-paragraph essay.
One of the slides includes an example essay so that you may project the image.
Writing symbols on the example essay can aid students in understanding the desired organization.
For example, I will draw a triangle next to the sentence in the introductory paragraph that introduces the first supporting idea ("required recycling of paper, plastic, and aluminum"), and then I will also draw a triangle next to the first body paragraph so that students can see how those ideas match or are organized.
Next I will place a circle next to the second supporting idea introduced in the introductory paragraph as well as next to the second body paragraph, and so on.
As you will see on one of the slides, there is a student packet that should be used in conjunction with this Powerpoint. The packet is an outline, example essay, and rough-draft planning area. The packet is available for free, and you will find it at the following link:
