This is a step by step process to help students discover the structure of a paragraph essay. This package includes:
1. a 3 page Lesson
2. a checklist
I have been using this to help my students learn the structure of a one paragraph essay. It could be done individually or collaboratively. The learners are encouraged to notice, ask questions, and make hypotheses, and test them. The teacher remains as a guide on the side and a consciousness-raiser.
It is easier to learn when the students take responsibility of their own learning. In this lesson students
1. Read a paragraph and answer a comprehension question (noticing)
2. Identify the components of the paragraph and mach the elements with their functions (consciousness-raising).
3. Identify the missing parts in some paragraphs and write them (practice)
4. Write a paragraph on their own (ree production)
