I love using police narratives in my creative writing classes! When we do this unit, we describe a "crime scene" set up in the basement of the school. This is a great way to get students thinking about how they write about their observations. I find that students are usually curious about police narrative writing in general and this activity gives them a taste for that career.
This resource includes a brief slide presentation on police narrative writing. It gives information on the types of reports, information included in the reports, and tips for writing the report. The presentation also includes specific information on how to structure the report as well as an example that shows that structure.
I also have provided a guided notes worksheet for students to use as they follow along with the presentation.
