Writing a Research Paper-“It’s in the Bag” Research Paper will enable students to become familiar with the vocabulary and process involved in writing a research paper. Students use an interactive journal to set the groundwork for constructing their paper bag/3D graphic organizer .
Writing an Expository Essay-This Expository Writing packet is divided into 2 sections. Pages 3 through10 introduces students to expository writing. Included are teachers’ notes that correspond to the student’s interactive journal notebooks. Information covered includes a definition of expository writing, 4 types of expository writing, and everyday examples of expository writing. Pages 11-35 include everything you need to develop Common Core Standards aligned ELA centers on Cause/Effect, Sequencing “How-To” directions, and Problem/Solutions. In addition to the center activities there are supplementary practice sheets for students to further develop their writing skills in these areas
Writing a Persuasive Essay-Looking for a way to energize and excite your students about writing a persuasive essay? I have found my “In the Bag” 3d graphic organizer to successfully engage all my students in the prewriting process. Besides increased student participation and motivation I have found my students had a better understanding of the parts of a proficient essay after completing their 3D graphic organizer. Additionally,the organizer becomes an art project because the students decorate their bags with colorful designs and graphics relevant to the topic they are writing on.
