How do you hold students accountable for their independent reading?
This product can help you do just that!
After modeling for your students how to "stop and jot" during reading, students can begin doing during independent reading time. Included is a sheet that provides four square spaces for students to either stop and record important thoughts/questions they have during reading.
Another sheet is included for students to elaborate on one of their thoughts in the form of a written response. A checklist is included on the response sheet reminding students to first: state their claim, second: cite specific evidence to support the claim, third: explain how the evidence provided supports the claim.
A rubric is also included so teachers have a place to leave valuable feedback for students on their written responses!
