This Common Core based activity addresses various learning styles. This lesson utilizes the skills of structured research and creative writing. It is a wonderful introduction to writing a research paper except the topic is exciting and creative.
The students will:
-- Research and document information about Arthurian times.
-- Plan an Arthurian legend
-- Write a thrilling legend complete with knights, villains, magic, and codes of chivalry
The three pages include characteristics of the genre, grading criteria, and graphic organizers.
Common Core State Standards:
Writing 3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences.
Writing 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task,
purpose, and audience.
Writing 5: Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach.
Writing 6: Use technology, including the Internet, to produce, publish, and update individual or shared writing products, taking advantage of technology's capacity to link to other information and to display information flexibly and dynamically.
