This handout includes definitions/descriptions and examples of the different parts of an introduction. I include hook, background info, and thesis/claim. There are examples for different types of essays (though all examples center around Edgar Allen Poe, students do not need to know about him, and they should translate well into other essay topics.)
This handout is ready to print and distribute to students. It can be used as a mini-lesson or just given for reference. Perfect to keep in their interactive notebooks or dividers and reference throughout the year!
