This is an activity that can be completed once students have learned how to solve the following equations:
equations with variables on both sides
The activity requires students to spend time working on one word problem. After they have completed one, they will rotate around the room to complete other word problems that other individuals/groups have completed. It requires them to not only write the equation, but to also solve and evaluate the work of the group who originally completed the problem. If they don't have matching answers, they must find errors and fix them before moving on to the next question. It helps students to write equations from word problems, practice solving them, and complete error analysis of each other's work. The word problem worksheet is broken down to help students write the equations out (requires them to identify the variable, complete a t-chart, etc.).
