This is a semester long (or longer) program to develop expository writing skills for upper elementary, junior high, and high school students. Starting with every student's favorite topic (themselves), students learn to write descriptive essays, persuasive essays, literature reviews, short stories, dialogue, and even essays for history class. The culmination of the semester is an extensive interview assignment and a research paper, complete with endnotes and references.
Each set of assignments (each week) includes writing topics and ideas for student class presentations. Evaluation forms for written work and presentations are included.
Although written as a five day per week, 15 week class, the ideas in the syllabus could easily be incorporated as part of a year long Language Arts class.
