The direction that mathematics instruction is going towards, includes A LOT of writing. Students are told to write how they solved a particular problem or to interpret a problem. In many other content areas there are formats for writing and how to set up the paragraph to flow nicely. However, in math, those same formats are not as applicable. This is a M.E.A.L. paragraph commonly used in Language Arts that has been modified to be of use in a mathematics classroom. This M.E.A.L. paragraph gives students the ability to organize their writing into a paragraph that their Language Arts teachers would be proud of!
