This interactive PowerPoint lets students do something besides take notes: eat cookies! As they learn about different persuasive structures, it is recommended that they get a cookie or two to eat as they practice writing in the different structures. What student wouldn't like that?
The persuasive structures discussed are evaluative, position and proposal. I use this lecture with my Composition 1 students before they write their persuasive essay. I find that it helps them differentiate between the types so they know better how to persuade their audience. Plus, eating cookies during class provides a nice break from their typically rigorous schedule.
