PPT has useful vocabulary for students to use to write a short story. Students work with a partner or a group and use the Preterit and Imperfect. Afterwards, students read their stories to the class. If time permits, I have student draw and color the scenes and upload to movie maker to use a a digital story.
I have students write compositions with a partner. Less grading and also promotes collaboration and team work. If you have 28 students, then you will only have to grade 14 compositions. Both students receive the same grade.
For higher level students I would require them to write on their own but for Novice students, it's helpful if they work with a partner. Helps build confidence as well.
For grading students compositions I use a rubric found online:
7.2.12.C.3 Use language creatively in writing for a variety of purposes.
7.4.12.A.5 Demonstrate comprehension of conversations and written information on a variety of topics.
7.4.12.C.3 Use language creatively to respond in writing to a variety of oral or visual prompts.
7.2.12.A.2 Demonstrate comprehension of spoken and written language as expressed by speakers of the target language in formal and informal settings through appropriate responses.
