This activity is used to help students think about an author's purpose and text structures. This is a group activity (although it can be completed individually) in which students may read articles or watch clips (clips suggested in brief lesson plan attached) about the water crisis. They are then asked to write about what they learned using a specific text structure. Once they have completed the task, each group will read their writing to the class for students to guess the text structure from which they wrote their text. This document includes a brainstorm activity and a rubric.
