Wonderful for differentiated instruction and assessment. Nine passages from The Kite Runner (chapters 14-20) for students to annotate and use for written discussion. Students will first annotate their passages, then rotate to peers in small groups to start written discussion of this reading. After 3 peers have written their discussion, the writer gets the original back.
The passages offer a range from the novel, so you can tier this lesson and give each student a passage equivalent to his/her readiness.
