Written Expression Revision Packet - Writing Centers
This packet will motivate your students to revise their drafts and give them strategies/techniques to revise effectively.
Revision literally means to “see again,” to look at something from a fresh, critical view. It is an ongoing process of rethinking the paper: reconsidering their writing, refining their purpose, reorganizing your writing, reviving their style of writing.
Writing is a process of discovery, and your students will not always produce their best work when they first get started. So revision is a chance for your students to look critically at what they have written to see:
2. if it’s really worth saying,
3. if it says what you wanted to say, and
4. if a reader will understand what you’re saying.
Setting Up Your Writing Revision Centers
1.Choose an area for the writing center. Pick a quiet corner of the classroom that has area space. Push a table into this corner to hold supplies.
2.Copy direction sheet and activity hint pages on cardstock paper (double-sided). Laminate for durability.
3.Copy multiple copies of the student response sheets and place them in an accessible bin or basket.
