This 55 page detailed unit plan for Wuthering Heights includes objectives; linking to CCSS; a detailed unit outline table with activities, instructions, and standards covered; all handouts in an organized appendix; discussion, essay, and seminar questions; a unit test with a key; group or individual end-of-unit project; and more! All the work is done for you in an organized way, and it is all in one easy-to-use document! Although I use this unit for my AP Literature and Composition class, it is easily adjustable to suite any high school or higher-level English class. The unit is based on students being in groups and each student having assigned roles that rotate through the sections of the novel. At the end of each section (determined by the teacher depending on when the students meet), groups use the chapter questions, which are divided up among group members, as a basis for discussion--each group member is responsible for leading the discussion for the questions they were assigned. All of this is explained in more detail in unit. This unit includes reading, writing, speaking and listening, language analysis, technology, projects, etc. By the end of the unit, students have a deeper understanding of the novel, the time-period, Gothic literature, Romanticism, doubling, framed-narrative, and much more. The bonus is that the students really enjoy this discussion-based unit.
