This activity will help students distinguish between closed syllables and closed exceptions. It aligns with Fundations Level 2 Unit 3 Week 1 Day 3 Make It Fun activity.
Display this document on your white board. Chorally read the lists. Divide the class into 5 groups and have each group line up in front of one column. Give the first person in line, in each group, a marker.
Tell students they will be having a relay race. The first person will read the first word and mark it either closed or closed exception.
They will then give the marker to the next student in line who will mark the next word. This continues until all of the words have been done. The first group to finish will win if they words are all marked correctly.
