This activity is a great class starter during a unit over THE ODYSSEY or Greek mythology and is a great example of the other EOC or standardized test practice assignments or bell work assignments in my store. I work standardized test practice into my regular curriculum so that we are NEVER doing test preparation that does not align with our other curriculum.
In this quick lesson, students learn about the importance of xenia (hospitality) to Greek culture. This activity is a short close read of informational text followed by a series of multiple choice questions. It makes excellent test prep for any standardized test in ELA or excellent supplemental material to a study of THE ODYSSEY, and as I mentioned before, it is representative of some of my other work. I create these activities myself so that they are relevant additions to our regular course work in addition to valuable test prep.
