Y as the vowels /e/ and /i/ and the consonant y
• Plenty of support from pictures, elkonin boxes and lines.
• 5 activities
1 – Cut, sort, and glue 12 words/pictures into the correct houses /y/, /e/, or /i/.
2- Stretch out the words using elkonin boxes
3 – Look at the pictures to help with reading the words; on the right, circle the sound you hear the “y” making in each word.
4 – Say the word, then listen for the sound the “y” is making in each word. Write y, e, or i in the box next to the picture.
5- Write the word on the line that matches the picture. One picture will not have a match. Once a word has been used cross it out.
