This Unit is a fun way to enhance your letter studies! The children get practice with letter recognition as well as beginning sounds (not only with the letter y, but the whole alphabet!!!) and even some syllable counting practice!
In this packet you will find 3 different sets of write the room cards, all things that begin with the letter y. You can find and use the one that best fits your needs. You may still find uses for the other sets, for word walls, vocabulary words, pocket chart activities. You will also find a “word bank” with the words. If you put those in page protectors and inside a folder (the version with the brads for holding hole punched pages), you have an “on the go” mini word wall for independent writing or another center!
You will find several different pocket chart activities that can also be used as center activities. One of the games is counting syllables in the words used in the write the room. Another pocket chart activity matching upper and lowercase letters. Also, there are cute yogurt containers with various CVC word pictures on them (you can attach to a popsicle stick) to use for word
stretching, counting sounds in words, sounding out and writing CVC words with dry erase boards, or even as story starters! You will find Quiz, Quiz, Trade cards (and directions for doing this game), I have Who has, Graphic Organizers, writing paper with and without prompts. You will also find 3 different types of Write the Room answer sheets, worksheets for identifying objects with the beginning sound of /y/ and writing y practice sheets. There
is a song sheet with the “sign language” y with a fun song. There is also an emergent reader for words that begin with y. What a fun way to enhance your letter studies!
