DOLCH SIGHT WORD ACTIVITY. Students with autism and cognitive impairment often have difficulty making choices, including answering Yes or No questions. The questions in this activity assist students in learning how to answer “Yes” or “No” questions using real pictures and words that complement any sight word program, especially those designed for students with learning disabilities.
Each question comes on a strip and is accompanied by a picture. Questions vary in complexity. Students can use the Yes and No mats provided or you can label two pencil cases “Yes” and “No” and have them sort the strips into the cases. To encourage verbal expression, you can use the strips like flash cards and have the students answer the questions and tell you why or why not. It can also be used as an assessment. All of my products are designed to aid teachers and parents in differentiating for their struggling readers and students with special needs.
