The YES and NO Bag is one of my favorite classroom management techniques. I have probably used it at least 3 times daily during my 10 years of teaching! It is a simple and adaptable way to manage whole class behavior. When the class is good– they get a YES, when they are not doing so great, you guessed it, NO. I love it because I can lay it on thick when they need more positive reinforcement. At the end of the week, I close my eyes and draw out a YES or a NO. My class gets an immediate lesson in probability! If I choose a YES, the class gets to vote on a reward– extra recess, extra station time, and free choice station times are always popular choices!
