In this Year 4 unit, students become familiar with the Indigenous cultures of Australia, addressing aspects of the HASS Australian Curriculum.

✩ It is a 9-lesson unit (designed to be taught over a term) that contains all lesson resources including worksheets and posters.

✩ This HASS unit also contains an editable PowerPoint presentation that can be displayed during each lesson. It includes the learning intentions/success criteria, key discussion points, worksheets and display resources. This makes teaching every lesson even easier if your classroom has a T.V or Smartboard.

✩ The editable planner includes relevant Australian Curriculum links.

✩ The lessons are kept simple and succinct, five to six steps each, to help you save time. The clear instructions highlight the key points, allowing you to focus on the students and make the most of the learning opportunities.

History: The diversity of Australia’s first peoples and the long and continuous connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to Country/Place (land, sea, waterways and skies) (ACHASSK083)

The nature of contact between Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and others, for example, the Macassans and the Europeans, and the effects of these interactions on, for example families and the environment (ACHASSK086)

Geography: Aspects of: The custodial responsibility Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have for Country/Place, and how this influences views about sustainability (ACHASSK089)
